Flood Zone Interactive Maps 
Select a map to determine any FEMA or Community flood zone information for your property. For Elevation Certificate Information or to see if your association has been granted a letter of map change or revision, select the Elevation Certificate map.

*Due to Sarasota County’s location on the Gulf of Mexico, it's flat topography, and sub-tropical climate; it is susceptible to coastal and riverine flooding from heavy rains, tropical storms, hurricanes, and storm surge.

Flood Hazard Map Definitions
  • High Risk - When 10 inches or more of standing water may occur. Flood insurance is required when a mortgage is held on a home.
  • Base Flood Elevation (BFE) - The computed elevation to which floodwater is anticipated to rise.
  • CFHA - Community Flood Hazard Area
  • SFHA - Special Flood Hazard Area
  • FIRM - Flood Insurance Rate Map
  • Zone A - High Risk Flood zone area, not BFE determined.
  • Zone AE - High Risk Flood zone area, BFE determined.
  • Zone X -  Moderate to low risk, flood insurance recommended.
  • Unshaded - Moderate to low risk, flood insurance recommended.

Disputes

If you believe your property was incorrectly included in a National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) identified Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA), you may submit an application to FEMA for a formal determination of the property's location and/or elevation relative to the SFHA.

Flood Zone Maps are also available on the Sarasota County Property Appraiser's website. At the bottom of the page of the property records information there is a link for FEMA Flood Zone Information provided by Sarasota County Government.
