Accela: Frequently Asked Questions (Continued)

1.) I don’t have my permit number, but I have the address and I need to schedule an inspection.  
Customers will be able to find their permit numbers in their accounts. They can also schedule the inspection within their account. If they are contractors, they will only see their converted permits if they have linked their license or become a delegate for a contractor that has already linked their license.

2.) I tried to schedule my inspection, but it won’t go through.
Things we can find out by viewing the permit:

a.) No NOC received.  
The NOC can be uploaded to the customer’s permit in their Accela ACA account. If the NOC is not in Accela, it will not prevent an inspection from being scheduled. The inspectors will be looking onsite for NOCs.

b.) No roof affidavit received. 
The roof affidavit can be submitted online in ACA but must be approved by permitted staff once submitted. After approval, the inspection can be scheduled.

c.) Missing Subcontractor forms.
The customer can add subcontractors to the permit in ACA. This is required; however, if a sub is not in Accela, it will not prevent the inspection from being scheduled. If an inspection is scheduled and the subcontractor is not listed, the inspector will fail the inspection. Adding a subcontractor is a very easy process in Accela/ACA.

d.) There are fees due.
Customers will see fees due in their accounts and will receive emails for missing information. Customers will see fees due. These can be paid online or by contacting the Inspection Hotline.

3.) My inspection failed, and I would like to speak to the inspector.   
The inspector’s name can be found in the inspection area in Accela. Provide the inspector’s telephone number. Or refer to Inspection Hotline whenever needed.

4.) I need to remove an inspection that does not apply to my permit, who is my Plans Examiner?  
Please refer the customer to permitting/plans review staff.

5.) I’m driving in my truck. Could you check the status of my permit? 
Please refer customers to permitting staff to ensure accurate information.

6.) I need the Electrical Subcontractor form. Can you print it and email to me? I can’t get it to work.
Forms are no longer required; subcontractors must be entered into the application online.

7.) I’m a homeowner, and my contractor says he pulled the permit. Can you verify that for me?  
Refer to permitting staff.

8.) I need a COO. Has this permit finished/closed?   
Refer to permitting staff.

9.) What is this fee for my permit?
This information is available in the customer’s account.

10.) I sent my NOC or Roof Affidavit or sub form in… is it received? 
Forms are now uploaded to the permit in the customer’s account. Receipt is confirmed on upload, and the customer can view the document in the account.

11.) I uploaded my revised plans. Do you have it? 
Forms are now uploaded to the permit in the customer’s account. The receipt is confirmed on upload, and the customer can view the document in the account. Who is working on it? Refer to permitting staff.

12.) I am a real estate agent/title search company, and there is an open permit. Can you check on it to see if it is really open and what has to happen to close it?  
Refer to permitting staff and/or the Inspection Hotline. 

13.) I need to know when my roof was put on. Can you check to see if there was ever a permit? When was it? What Company did the roof?   
Refer to permitting staff. However, these may need to come to permitting or records staff to ensure correct information. No closed permits were converted from AMANDA to Accela. Information related to permits closed prior to August 18, 2023 can be found in the: Closed Permit Search

14.) My permit is in “Review in progress.” Can you give me an idea of when this will be ready to issue?  
Refer to permitting staff.

15.) My permit is in “Ready to Issue” status, but I cannot print it. Permit will show if, missing fees, docs or if contractor license is not up to date.  
Refer to permitting staff.

16.) When is my inspector coming today? I only have the address.  
The inspector’s name can be found in the inspection area in Accela. Provide the inspector’s telephone number. Or refer to Inspection Hotline whenever needed.

17.) Which documents on my permit do I need to have printed and on-site? 
Permit card, approved job site plans, and NOC. Roofing affidavit, if applicable.

18.) Which inspections are still pending on my permit?
This information is listed in the permit in the customer account.
