Bulk Pickup Service Information

Category: Solid Waste

What is Bulk Pickup?

A bulk pickup is a service for large items that do not fit inside the provided garbage cart. These items might include furniture, appliances, large household items, or other types of debris that are too big to be disposed of in your regular trash container. Bulk pickups will be scheduled by hauler.

*Residents will need to schedule bulk pickups directly with the Hauler in advance.*

If the item(s) are taken by someone prior to pickup, contact the service provider to "refund" your free bulk pickup.

Need Extra Help with Your Garbage? Here’s What You Can Do:

  1.  Request a Bulk Pickup: If your garbage won’t fit in your new cart, don’t worry! You’re eligible for four free bulk pickups per year (up to 10 cubic yards). Additional pickups are available for a small fee.
  2. Community Cleanup Events: Take your excess garbage to a free community cleanup event hosted by County Code Enforcement. These events are a great way to dispose of large items for no cost
  3. Use the Central County Landfill: You can bring your excess garbage to the Central County Landfill, but please be aware that disposal fees apply. The Sarasota County landfill is located at 4000 Knights Trail Rd., Nokomis, FL 34275.

Important Reminders

As of March 31, 2025, all residents should be using their single garbage cart only as we’ve made changes to how garbage is collected. With automated carts, please make sure you’re using your new single garbage cart for all your waste and don’t use your recycling cart for garbage! This helps reduce excess garbage outside the container. Recycling contamination is costly, and repeated contamination can lead to cart removal. Help us keep your neighborhood clean by following the guidelines.
